March 08, 2010 ALPHARETTA – Alpharetta's Casa Nuova Italian Restaurant helped Haiti's earthquake victims by donating 20 percent of its Feb. 2 lunch and dinner proceeds to the drive sponsored by St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Cumming. They donated $2,400 to the relief effort.

Casa Nuova is owned by Antonio and Maria Fundora, who felt touched as Haiti is a neighbor to their native Cuba.

"As people of a Caribbean nation and as human beings, our hearts go out to the men, women and children of Haiti who have lost everything in this disaster. Our prayer is to help in whatever small way we can to relieve their suffering," said Maria Fundora.

They are also members of St. Brendan's Church, which is still accepting monetary and other donations for the earthquake drive.

The restaurant regularly donates to local charities and holds its own annual drive to fund pancreatic cancer research.
